Corcel appoints Scott Gilbert as interim CEO

Corcel plc has appointed Scott Gilbert as interim chief executive with immediate effect and, subject to regulatory checks, to the board as an executive director. 

Mr Gilbert is a co-founder and vendor of Atlas Petroleum Exploration Worldwide Ltd with interests in blocks acquired by Corcel in the Kwanza Basin, Angola.

Since December 2023 he has been a consultant to the company, developing opportunities in Brazil and Angola.

Mr Gilbert has 15 years’ experience in oil & gas, having worked in engineering, business development, and executive roles for major services companies across the globe, including considerable time in Angola and Brazil.

He is also an entrepreneur with experience in deal origination, M&A and post-merger integration, having co-founded and invested in several businesses within the oil & gas sector

Corcel also announced that its chief technical officer Jennifer Ayers, due to join the board, will now not do so but will remain exploration director, focused on Angola exploration and new venture efforts with the executive team.

The board now comprises, upon completion of all regulatory checks, executive chairman Antoine Karam, interim CEO Scott Gilbert, chief commercial officer and MD Angola Geraldine Geraldo, non-executive directors Pradeep Kabra, Deepak Kohli and Yan Zhao and independent NED Andrew Fairclough.

Mr Kohil’s regulatory checks remain in progress.
