Conroy appoints John Sherman as deputy chairman

Conroy Gold and Natural Resources plc has appointed the chairman’s son-in-law John Sherman as non-executive deputy chairman with immediate effect.  

He will be a non-independent director for the purposes of the QCA* Corporate Governance Code because of his relationship with chairman Richard Conroy.

His spouse is Sorċa Conroy who holds an interest in 937,139 ordinary shares in Conroy Gold, representing 1.96% of voting rights.

Mr Sherman has more than 25 years’ public markets investment experience as an equity analyst at J.P. Morgan Securities in New York, from 1994 to 1998, and with T Rowe Price Group in London (2001-2018) and Baltimore (1999-2000 and 2018-2023).

He covered diverse businesses and sectors in Europe, North America and Asia.  

His most recent assignments at T Rowe Price included generalist coverage of Canadian companies, sector coverage of the European chemical industry and membership on the firm’s proxy voting policy committee. 

Mr Sherman has a degree in International Economics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington DC and an MBA from Stanford University.
