Conroy Gold and Natural Resources plc has appointed Marian Moroney as a non-executive director and Cathal Jones as finance director, with immediate effect.
Ms Moroney has more than 30 years’ experience in exploration, mining, strategic planning, governance, covering business opportunities, joint venture management and oversight, mergers and acquisitions.
She spent more than 20 years with Barrick Gold Corporation in senior roles, including five years as vice president – new exploration opportunities, and also progressed the Alturas gold deposit.
In 2015, Ms Moroney was named as one of Barrick’s inaugural partners in 2015, and was voted one of 100 Global Inspirational Women in mining in 2016.
From 2014 to 2017, she was a board member for the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), Reunion Gold Corporation (2019-2022) and is a current member of the PDAC Geoscience Committee, Society Economic Geologists, and Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Ms Moroney currently holds no shares in Conroy Gold.
Cathal Jones qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in 1999 and worked in a practice for more than 15 years.
He moved to Deloitte in 2002 as a senior manager and director in the corporate finance department, advising on project finance, capital raising, M&A and strategic direction primarily in natural resources and renewable energy.
Mr Jones became finance director of Ardilaun Energy Ltd in 2014 and is a founding director of Dunraven Resources plc.
He is currently Conroy’s company secretary and has been a consultant with the company for a number of years.
Mr Jones has a degree in Law and Accounting from the University of Limerick and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
He holds an interest in 208,952 shares in Conroy Gold, representing 0.44% of its issued share capital.
