Conroy Gold and Natural Resources plc appointed its deputy chairman John Sherman as chairman with immediate effect.

DISCS OF GOLD

His appointment follows the death last month of the company’s founder and executive chairman Richard Conroy.

Mr Sherman is Professor Conroy’s son-in-law.

Conroy has also named its licence area as the Discs of Gold project, located between two previously identified parallel district-scale gold trends of Orlock Bridge, covering 65km, and Skullmartin over 24km.

Both are “anchored” by the Clontibret gold deposit in Co. Monaghan, Ireland.

A further seven gold targets include Clay Lake and Creenkill in Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland.

The company said that the discs are in reference to two gold ‘Sun Discs’ dated 2000BC held in the National Museum of Ireland.

They were found in the 19th century in Co. Monaghan, adjacent to the company’s licence area.

Conroy has started a re-logging programme of 30,000m of drill core ahead of follow-up drilling and securing investments including potential joint ventures.

Previous partner Turkish miner Demir Export A.Ş left the agreement in May this year with a net smelter royalty after spending €5,657,671 on exploration work.
