Critical Mineral Resources plc has completed its first purchase and sale of high grade lead concentrate under its expanding trading joint venture in Morocco.

The company’s strategy is to buy and raw ore and concentrates from small scale miners and aggregators.
CMR noted that Morocco is a “significant” lead producer with approximately “120,000 tonnes of lead concentrate exports in 2022”, ranking it the world’s thirteenth largest exporter of crude lead ore and concentrates.
Most of the lead comes from Touissit Bou and Beker in the north east, near the border with Algeria, the Aouli Mibladen area near Midelt, and the Aouam area south of Meknes.
CMR added that lead was one of the company’s five priority opportunities for near-term sales growth along with manganese, zinc, copper, antimony and various industrial minerals.
