Chariot signs drill contract for Anchois gas appraisal well

Chariot Ltd has signed a contract with Stena Drilling to use its Stena Don drilling rig for the planned Anchois gas appraisal well within the Lixus licence, offshore Morocco.

Plans: Chariot has been keenly focused on delivering the drilling campaign (Chariot Ltd)

PROGRAMME

Stena Don is a semi-submersible rig, suitable for drilling, completion and workover operations.

Appraisal drilling is expected to start during December 2021 and take up to approximately 40 days.

Chariot said that the programme aimed to confirm the gas resource volumes, reservoir quality and well productivity in the discovered sands.

It would also provide a future production well and potentially deepen the well into additional low-risk prospective sands to establish a larger resource base.

LIXUS

The Lixus licence covers 2,390km2 and lies 30km north of Chariot’s existing Moroccan acreage with water depths from the coastline to 850m.

The area has legacy 3D seismic data covering 1,425km2 and four exploration wells, including the Anchois gas discovery.

Acting chief executive Adonis Pouroulis added that the contract was an important moment in the company’s planned drilling campaign for the Lixus licence.

“As a team, we have been keenly focused on delivering the drilling campaign that we recently raised money for, and we are pleased that this contract award brings us a step closer to achieving this.”

In May, the company raised $16.5 million (£11.7m) through placing 212,553,929 new ordinary shares, each at 5.5 pence.

Chariot is an African focused transitional energy group with two business streams of transitional gas and power.
