Capricorn Energy plc intends to nominate Patrice E. Merrin as an independent non-executive director (NED) for election at the company’s general meeting on 26 June 2023.
Ms Merrin has significant experience across the energy, resources and commodity sectors.
She is due to retire at the end of May after nine years as independent NED from Glencore where she also chairs the ethics, culture and compliance committee and is a member of the health, safety, environment and communities and the investigations committees.
In addition, Ms Merrin is an independent director of Metals Acquisition Corporation, and in 2022 she joined the board of Lancium, Inc.
She was previously president, chief executive officer and director of Canada’s largest thermal coal producer Luscar Ltd, prior to which she was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Sherritt International.
Ms Merrin was also a director of Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation in Alberta.
From 2018 to 2021, she served on the board of Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and is a former co-chair of Perimeter’s Emmy Noether Circle, promoting women in physics.
In 2016, she was cited as one of the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining.
Ms Merrin currently holds no shares in Capricorn.
