Baron Oil plc proposes to appoint of Dr Andrew (Andy) Butler to the board as director Asia Pacific, expected to be effective from 1 July 2023.
Dr Butler has more than 27 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector and is the chief executive officer of SundaGas Pte Ltd which he co-founded in 2016.
He has been involved with Baron since the two companies’ 2016 joint venture agreement, which led to the 2019 Timor-Leste TL-SO-19-16 production sharing contract which he currently manages.
He has been a person discharging managerial responsibilities of Baron since 2021 and is a director of the company’s two subsidiaries in Asia.
Dr Butler was formerly vice president of business development at Mitra Energy Ltd (renamed Jadestone Energy plc) and new ventures manager and a principal consultant geologist at BG Group.
He is currently the first vice president of the South-East Asia Petroleum Exploration Society (Seapex), a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, a member of the Geoscience Energy Society of Great Britain, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Association of International Energy Negotiators and the Singapore Institute of Directors.
Dr Butler holds a Ph.D in Geology from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Geology from the University of Oxford.
