Arkle identifies pegmatites at Aughrim

Arkle Resources plc said it had discovered pegmatites from visual observation during its initial prospecting programme on its Aughrim block of four licences in County Wicklow.

Encouragement: the findings also provide impetus for the company’s growing focus on lithium (stock photo)

EARLY DRILLING

The company took samples from ten priority target areas including exposed granitic bodies which are part of the Leinster granite highly prospective for lithium, caesium and tantalum pegmatites.

Arkle said that Aughrim was also “highly prospective” for precious metals, being contiguous to its Mine River block to the south and IMC Exploration Group’s Avoca gold deposit to the east.

Of the 59 samples collected and sent for analysis for lithium and other critical metals, eight will be assayed for gold.

“This discovery is very encouraging and provides impetus for our growing focus on lithium,” added chairman John Teeling.

“Positive results will lead to an early-stage drilling programme.”
