Altus Strategies plc said it had identified numerous high priority gold targets from remote sensing across its four projects covering 1,565 km2 in the Eastern Desert of Egypt.
WORKINGS
Altus conducted systematic remote sensing across the projects and found major historical gold mining camps, including the Bakriyah mining district.
More than 100 potential hard rock gold workings were identified from satellite imagery.
Additionally, several very extensive hard rock workings were traced up to 375m in length.
Altus said that a field team was being assembled to start systematic exploration during the second quarter of 2021.
TARGETS
Wadi Jundi (696 km2) hosts a historical gold mine and includes 28 potential hard rock gold workings and seven mapped gold occurrences.
Bakriyah (348 km2) lies in the historical Bakriyah gold mining district and has 49 potential hard rock gold workings and eight mapped gold occurrences.
Abu Diwan (346 km2) holds 24 potential hard rock gold working, three mapped gold occurrences and potential vein workings up to 375m in strike length.
Wadi Dubur (175 km2) has 39 potential hard rock gold working and one mapped gold occurrence. It has potential vein workings up to 240m length.
ARABIAN NUBIAN SHIELD
All four projects are located within the Arabian Nubian Shield (ANS).
The Eastern Desert comprises the northern extent of the ANS known as a historical gold province, where mining activities date back to Pharaonic times.
