Altus Strategies plc has discovered numerous hard rock artisanal gold workings at its Gabal om Ourada and Wadi Dubur projects in the Eastern Desert of Egypt.
RECONNAISSANCE
The company’s 100% owned subsidiary, Akh Gold Ltd holds gold exploration licences covering 1,565 km2.
The 37 hard rock artisanal gold workings were discovered from field reconnaissance across two projects in Egypt.
GABAL OM OURADA
Altus has been to four of 12 high priority targets on the 346 km2 licence where workings were traced for up to 375m.
Priority targets for follow-up work were delineated with numerous other targets to be assessed.
The longest working was mapped for over 370m and five others mapped for over 100m.
WADI DUBUR
At the 175 km2 licence, Altus has looked at four of 10 high priority targets and discovered numerous mechanised and smaller scale historical artisanal hard rock workings traced for up to 250m.
The company identified visible gold in hand samples and delineated priority targets for follow-up work with numerous other targets to be assessed.
PROGRAMME
A full technical and operational team has been established in Cairo and exploration programmes are expected to begin during Q4 2021.
“Reconnaissance has focused on areas identified by our in-house target generation techniques that integrate remote sensing and historical data,” said chief executive Steven Poulton.
“The field programmes have validated the power of this approach and underscored the prospectivity of the licences.
“We have rapidly established a high calibre technical and operational team in Egypt, allowing us to aggressively advance our field programmes.”
NEXT PHASE
Field reconnaissance will soon begin at the Wadi Jundi (696 km2) and Gabal Al-Shalul (348 km2) projects.
This will be followed by detailed exploration, including geological mapping and sampling, anticipated to start during Q4 2021.
