Altona joins mining lobby group in Mozambique

Altona Rare Earths plc’s subsidiary, developing the Monte Muambe project, has joined the Chamber of Mines of Mozambique (CMM).

ADVOCACY

Founded in 2012 by a number of large international miners, CMM co-ordinates private sector mining companies in the country and represents their interests to the government.

The organisation also aims to improve the image of mining in Mozambique and is currently lobbying for a favourable business environment for the industry.

“I am delighted that our subsidiary Monte Muambe Mining Limitada has joined the Chamber of Mines,” said Altona chief executive officer Cedric Simonet.

“Mozambique is a mature mining country, where the mining industry has a bright future ahead, provided it remains united and proactively engages with all stakeholders.

“As a key player in Mozambique, it was only natural for Altona, through its local subsidiary, to join this prestigious business advocacy organisation.”
