Altona completes 2021 drill at Monte Muambe

Altona Rare Earths plc announced it had completed on time and within budget its 2021 drill programme at its Monte Muambe project in Mozambique.

Sampling: Altona will focus on Chambe in Malawi while awaiting results from Monte Muambe (Altona Rare Earths)

PHASE I

The company drilled five diamond drill holes for 590 metres and 38 reverse circulation holes for 2,441m.

Altona tested the lateral extension of known REE mineralisation in the crater and explored four new targets where geologists identified possible deep carbonatite weathering, ideal for hosting REE deposits.

The company’s geologist team in Mozambique is preparing samples to be shipped in early December for analysis with results expected during March 2022.

CHAMBE, MALAWI

Chief executive Christian Taylor-Wilkinson said that while awaiting the results, the team would focus on the Chambe REE prospect in Southern Malawi.

Altona is currently undertaking initial sampling and analysis at the site before the start of the rainy season.

The company then aims to commission a competent persons report to help identify targets for Phase 1 drilling in Q1 2022.
