Alba Mineral Resources plc said it had started surface drilling after completing its underground drilling programme and bulk sampling at Clogau-St David’s Gold Mine in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.
The metals and critical minerals mining company reported that underground drilling programme had involved seven drill holes for a total of 559.5 metres and which includes two drill holes (L003 and L004) completed since mid-October. (bit.ly/3mSy0NL)
Seven bulk samples have been collected for a total of 36 tonnes of material.
This is the first phase of a surface drilling campaign of up to 1,500 metres targeting mineralisation below the existing mine workings at the Llechfraith mine area. The campaign tests the continuation of mineralisation at depth.
Alba said it would notify authorities of its longer term drilling programme of up to 5,000 metres to test areas of interest that could not be easily or safely accessed underground.
Executive chairman, George Frangeskides, added: “We are delighted to have successfully concluded our 2020 underground drilling and bulk sampling programme.
“We now move straight into our surface drilling campaign. The surface drill rig is on site and our team has started collaring the first hole.”
