Alba spinout GreenRoc identifies graphite extensions at Kalaaq

Alba Mineral Resources plc said that its portfolio company GreenRoc Mining plc had identified significant graphite extensions at the Kalaaq deposit in Greenland.

Target: GreenRoc will design a drilling programme to identify the third dimension of the mineralised zones (Alba Mineral Resources)

BUSINESS STRUCTURE

The project lies south of Alba’s 100% owned Amitsoq graphite project and is run by GreenRoc in which Alba holds a 54% interest.

FIELD PROGRAMME

GreenRoc plc said that a field programme comprising channel sampling, grab sampling and beep mat surveys was conducted between July and August 2021.

It had confirmed greater confidence in the continuity of previously identified zones.

EXTENSIONS

The projection of the upper graphite zone (UGZ) identified during 2017 has been extended 360m to the south and is open along strike.

The lower graphite bed has also been extended 300m along strike to the north where values of up to 33.1 C(g)% have been recorded.

GreenRoc added that the newly discovered Niels Hede Pedersen (NHP) zone had now extended the identified graphite mineralisation of the BLZ Zone a further 1.3km and again is open on strike.

NEW DOMAIN ZONE

A potential new area, termed the new domain zone (NDZ), with a grab sample grade of 32.1 C(g)%, has also been identified.

This sample indicates the potential for an additional mineralised graphite zone outside the primary target zones on the western side of the Kalaaq deposit.

DRILLING

GreenRoc’s chief executive Kirk Adams said that the company would now design a drilling programme to target the identification of the third dimension of the mineralised zones.
