Alba reveals notable target shaping up at Clogau gold mine

Alba Mineral Resources plc said that the completion of Phase 2 surface drilling had revealed a potentially significant target at the Clogau-St David’s gold mine in North Wales.

The junior miner drilled ten holes for 1,475.6 metres with all holes to date intersecting the Main Lode extension.

Hole JW008 intercepted the best developed example of the Main Lode extension including an intercept of 3.40m from 49.90m.

Galena, an indicator mineral for gold-bearing veins and previously associated with high gold grades, has been identified in this intercept.

PROJECTIONS

Alba said that the Main Lode extension was now projected to have strike length of 585m and a depth of 63m below surface and was “shaping up to be a significant target”.

Targets below Grandfathers and 7-10 lodes were also intersected, with the Grandfathers extension now being projected to measure approximately 57.6m and the 7-10 extension 30m.

The key objective of Phase 2 surface drilling at Clogau-St David’s was to prove the continuity of the Main Lode extension identified during drilling at the end of 2020.

The company will next focus on a detailed technical and engineering evaluation of the most efficient access routes to the key gold targets identified through drilling: the Llechfraith lode, Main Lode extension, Grandfathers extension and 7-10 extension.

OTHER PROGRESS

In its Phase 2 underground drilling programme, Alba has drilled three holes two of which intersected the Main Lode extension north of the Llechfraith adit.

Applications for a permit to dewater the Llechfraith Shaft are also progressing well.
