Alba completes Clogau airborne survey

Alba Mineral Resources plc continues to progress work while awaiting permission to abstract water at a higher pump rate from the Clogau-St David’s gold mine.

DELAY

The airborne geophysical survey over the Clogau target area is complete and further surveys will continue over key regional gold targets.

Expected from 18 December, the next will be over Hafod Owen, Gwynfynydd and Castle Carndochan if the weather allows.

The decision on the Alba’s applications on dewatering the lower Llechfaith workings is now expected on 20 December, following a delay in Natural Resources Wales’ uploading the information on its website.

Lower Llechfraith safety and access works will progress next week in readiness for the completion of dewatering, anticipated in early 2024, and the start of exploration on level 4.

Chairman George Frangeskides said that the company was hopeful it was entering the final straight of the dewatering permit process.

“The further access and safety works we will be doing shortly are intended to enable us to hit the ground running as soon as we have a positive outcome on those permits.

“The permitting delays we have encountered this year have undoubtedly been a source of great frustration for all of us, both Alba management and shareholders.

“However, I’m very pleased to see the positive movement on both the in-mine dewatering and the regional survey projects in recent days, which fills us with a renewed vigour and determination to put these issues behind us in the new year and finally unlock some serious value from our Welsh gold projects.”
